The Plan

Here’s the ultimate plan… 

Sell:

  1. Crappy Ibanez electric
  2. Crappy no-name student bass
  3. Black Yamaha FGX-412C 12-string acoustic/electric
  4. Nearly new acoustic bass (I forget the manufacturer, I’ve used it so little… not nearly worth the $600 I paid for it)
  5. Cream colored Fender Squire Telecaster
  6. Tascam 4-track

Create the following setup:

  1. Gretsch G5120 
  2. Carl Martin Red Repeat for the vintage rockabilly slapback echo
  3. Boss ‘59 Bassman Pedal to emulate its namesake Fender Tube Amp

Going into either:

  1. Basic m-audio preamp => Macbook Pro => Garageband
  2. My existing generic, run-of-the-mill Peavey, with neutral settings, allowing for the Bassman Pedal to run the show 

I want to start recording stuff again… and who knows, maybe I’ll start playing some live shows again somewhere, with or without a band. Probably solo, since that’s what I’m most used to and comfortable with.

Wish list:

  1. Decent/cheap PA+mixer+decent mic
  2. Midi full-sized keyboard (since I can’t fit a piano in the house)
  3. Cheap electric bass
  4. Jay takes a break from doing top secret government jobs in the middle of random deserts to write/play/lay down tracks/”tour” with me
